The Baroque painter Francisco de Zurbaran born
1598, Fuente de Cantos, Spain. The first lessons and training he had from
Pedro Diaz da Villanueva in his studio in Seville ( 1616 - 1617 ). He moved
to Lierena near his birthplace and painted a few Art works for the churches
and Monasteries. In 1629 Zurbaran went back to Seville and became a
great and important artist. From 1630 till 1645 he made paintings for
many churches and for La Sangre, the local Hospital there. The Baroque
painter traveled to Madrid in 1658 where he became a member of the
Santiago Order. The Spanish painter Francisco de Zurbaran died in
poverty, 1664, Madrid, Spain.
