The American Neoclassical painter Benjamin West born
in Pennsylvania, Newtown Square, US, 1738. The Anglo American painter
was a great artist in historical scenes. He had a little education en
the painter was an autodidact. He worked and lived from 1746 till 1759
in Pennsylvania, the most of his Art works are portrait paintings.
Benjamin met the the famous John Wollaston who cam from London. He went
to Italy in 1760 where he studied and copied the works of the painters
Raphael and Titian. Moved in 1763 to England for painting Royal Family
portraits. In 1768 he befriended with Sir Joshua Reynolds, an English
portraitist and went together to the Royal Academy of Arts. From 1806
till his death he was the president on the Academy. The American
Neoclassical painter Benjamin West died in London, England, 1820. |
