The Italian Gothic painter Simone Martini. Born in
Siena, Italia ca 1285. Great and important figure of the Early Italian
painting history and influenced of the International Gothic style. He
studied under Duccio di Buoninsegna, the great Sienese painter at that time.
Also had lessons of Giotto di Bondone. With Bondone he went to Rome to
work at the St. Peter's Basilica. He travelled through Europe and stayed
in Avignon, France. The painter Martine died in Avignon, France in 1344. |
