The Dutch Baroque Genre painter Jan Steen. Born in
Leiden, the Netherlands ca 1626. He became a student at the Latin
school. The first painting education he got from the German painter Nicolaes Knupfer
(1603–1660). The painter Steen get more inspirations from the painters
Isaac and Adriaen van Ostade. Jan Steen worked and lived in the Hague,
Warmond, Haarlem and Leiden. He became the Sint Lucas Guild President in
1674. The Dutch painter died in Leiden, 1679. |
