Short biography of the Italian Neoclassical painter Giacomo Quarenghi
The Italian Neoclassical painter Giacomo Quarenghi.
Born in Bergamo, Italy in 1744. Start study paintings with Reggi and
Bonomini. When he moved to Rome he studied under Anton Raphael Mengs. He
travelled to England where he worked also. In 1799 he moved with his
family to Russia. There he worked and stayed till his dead. He became a
member of the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg in 1805. He had 13
children and died in 1817.
