The Russian Court and portrait painter Ivan Nikitin. Aka
Ivan Nikitich Nikitin. Born in Moscow, Russia. Had his first Art lessons
from Schwonbek, a Dutch artist of the Kremlin Armoury. Moved in 1711 to
St. Petersburg and stay in Italy from 1716 till 1720. He was sent there
by Peter the Great. He stayed at Venice and Florence. After when he
returned to Russia he worked as a popular Court painter. The Russian
court and portrait painter died in 1742. |
