Short biography from the Danish painter Jens Juel (1745 - 1802).
The Danish painter Jens Juel born in Balsev,
Denmark, 1745. His first educations he had in Hamburg, Germany under the
painter Gehrmann. Juel traveled and worked from 1772 till 1779 in Rome,
Geneva, Dresden and Paris. He moved in 1780 to Copenhagen, Denmark.
First he entered the Royal Danish Academy of Art and after he became a
Court painter and a teacher. Jens Juel was a great portrait painter. The
Danish portrait painter died in 1802.
