The Dutch Genre painter Pieter de Hoogh ( aka Hooch ) born in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, 1629. He studied under Nicolaes Berchem, (a Landscape painter) in Haarlem. Around 1650 he worked for Justus de la Grange, an Art collector. De Hoogh visited some countries as Delft, Leiden and the Hague. In Delft he studied under the Masters Nicolaes Maes and Carel Fabritius, ( Delft School members ). The Hoogh himself went in to the group of Saint Luke in 1655. The Dutch painter went in 1661 to Amsterdam. He shared the style and themes from the Dutch great Master Jan Vermeer. The Dutch Genre painter Pieter de Hoogh died in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, 1684. |
