The German Northern Renaissance painter born in Augsburg, Germany, 1494. The Elder son of the famous painter Hans Holbein the Elder and the elder brother of the old master Hans Holbein the Younger. The first professional educations he got from his father. He left the workshop from his father in 1514 and started work in Stein on Rein for the Sanct George Monastery. Ambrosius went with his younger brother to Basel in 1516. In Basel they made religious paintings, engravings and portraits. The Northern Renaissance painter died in 1519. |
