Short biography from the German painter Georg Christoph Grooth ( 1716 - 1749 ).

The German painter Georg Christoph Grooth aka Kleine Grooth was born 1716, Stuttgart, Germany. The first Art lessons he had in Dresden. Georg Grooth moved to Revel, Lithuania in 1743. Together with his friend and German painter Lucas Conrad Pfandzelt they went to St. Petersburg to restore the Royal paintings there. One of the pupils of Grooth was Ivan Argunov, a Russian painter. Together with him he painted for the Tsarskoye Selo court church ( Pushkin ). The German painter died in 1749, St. Petersburg.
