The Historical and portrait painter Francois Pascal
Simon Gerard born in Rome, Italy in 1770. The first of his life he
stayed in Rome and start to studied the Italian Art. In 1782 he moved
with his family to Paris, France. First Francois Gerard start to studied
under Augustin Pajou, a Sculptor. After that he became the pupil of
Jacques - Louis David and became there a specialist in portrait
paintings. He went back to Italy in 1790. There he trained him self for
historical paintings. He traveled back to Paris the followed year.
Francois Gerard became a great portraitist and a historical painter. He
died in Paris, France in 1837.
