The Surrealist painter Max Ernst born in 1891, Bruhl, Germany. The Surrealist painter studied in Bonn at the University in 1909 and started to paint also. Ernst met Paul Klee in 1919. He moved to Montparnasse, an artist community in Paris in 1922. The French painter met there Joan Miró and Paul Eluard. In 1934 he start to sculpt with Alberto Giacometti. In 1941 he traveled to the United States, together with his friends Marc Chagall and Marcel Duchamp. They lived in New York. Max Ernst moved to France with his wife Dorethea Tanning in 1953. The French Surrealist painter died in 1976, Paris, France. |
