The Dutch painter Gerard David, born ca 1460 in Oudewater, the Netherlands. Painter of the Northern Renaissance. We don't know about the lessons and who trained David. Memling, van der Goes, van der Weyden, all that painters had influence in Gerard David's art works. David went to Bruges in 1483. In 1484 he had the membership of the Guild of St. Luke there. He traveled to Italy in 1511. Gerard David, the Northern Renaissance painter died in Bruges, 1523. |
