The Northern Renaissance Flemish painter Robert Campin, Master of Flemalle, born in Tournai. We know nothing of his background and trainings. In 1406 he be qualified as Master. With the brothers Van Eyck, they were together the founders of the Dutch paintings of the Gothic and Renaissance style ( early). Robert Campin was the teacher from 1427 till 1432 from Rogier van der Weyden. This great Flemish painter died in 1444. |
